Description of Work

Chugach provides base operating services at Fort Greely, home of the MDA and SMDC, located 100 miles southeast of Fairbanks, Alaska. Chugach maintains critical infrastructure such as the airfield and power generation and distribution in this remote location.  Chugach ensures environmental compliance and cleanliness of facilities to ensure the health and safety of all personnel supporting Fort Greely’s mission.

Unique Challenges

Fort Greely’s facilities and systems range from a Cold War Garrison to modern national defense assets.  Our skilled technicians maintain obsolete systems and manage and maintain emerging technologies. Our work impacts the operational Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS), which must be coordinated with other BMDS sites around the globe to ensure continuity.

Solutions
For both aged equipment and new systems, Chugach manages and executes work with a well-defined, pre-planned, computerized maintenance program. Every asset that we maintain is tracked in the system so that scheduled maintenance to over 20,000 individual assets can be pre-planned and accomplished in an efficient manner while minimizing down time to our customer. We begin planning a year in advance of mission impacting maintenance activities so that global coordination with other sites can be accomplished well ahead of time.
